Fun Summer Activities that don’t cost the earth

The time is upon us that many parents dread. The summer holidays. Of course it is a great to spend quality time with our little ones, but the idea of 6 weeks trying to entertain them is not something to look forward to.

A lot of parents find that they resort to spending out too much money to keep their kids busy during the summer months, but we have some news for you. There are ways that you can keep your kids busy, without having to spend a fortune.

We have put together some of the best summer activities that are low cost and great fun!

Let them be the director

We all love watching home videos back of our kids just being themselves. So, if you are stuck for things to do, why not give them a camera or smartphone and let them be a director. They can do whatever they want, make a film, do a show or simply sing their hearts out. This will keep them entertained and make sure that you have something to watch in the future too.

Go camping, in your back garden

Camping has become more and more popular over recent times. But it isn’t always the case that you can get away. If your kids are craving a spot of canvas time, then why not set up the tent in your garden? It’s great fun for the kids, low cost and not too much hassle for you. Plus it means that they are away from the TV and exploring their back garden instead.

Get out the pool

We are not always blessed with the best weather in the UK, but from time to time we see some delicious sunshine. When this happens, you should try and make the most of it. Grab the paddling pool, fill it up and have plenty of toys for your kids to play with, this is likely to keep them entertained for hours.

Have the messy stuff out

As parents we are not always huge fans of letting our kids get out the arts and crafts stuff. After all, it is known to make a pretty epic mess. During the summer holidays, perhaps it is time to let them loose with the glitter, glue and paints. You can always lie a sheet down in the garden and let them get creative out there. After all, this is going to be much easier to clean up then if it was in the house.

The summer holidays can feel long at times, but they don’t always have to be expensive. Why not see if you can find some ways to keep your kids entertained? You may be surprised by what you come up with, and best of all, if you keep the costs down, then you will be able to save some money for when you really want to have a splurge and a family day out!
